In Gaza, the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Porphyrios was destroyed
The Greek Orthodox Church of St. Porphyrios in southern Gaza, where Palestinian refugees have found shelter, came under Israeli air strike.
Women and children were mainly in the temple during the attack.

The Greek Orthodox Church of St. Porphyrios is one of the oldest in the region. It was built at the beginning of the 5th century. The temple survived the decline of the Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Caliphate, the Ottoman Empire and two world wars, and was rebuilt several times.

The Israeli airstrikes were condemned by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, who stated:
“The Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem expresses its strongest condemnation of the Israeli airstrike that has struck its church compound in the city of Gaza. The Patriarchate emphasises that targeting churches and their institutions and the shelters they provide to protect innocent citizens, especially children and women who have lost their homes due to Israeli airstrikes on residential areas over the past thirteen days, constitutes a war crime that cannot be ignored.”
